The Introverted Woman

Thoughts on Introversion

One reason I love Winter is this morning when I went outside, the neighbor's dog was out for a few minutes, and the neighbor was *not. That means peace. When I heard the dog, I sighed as I was sure my decadent solitude would be interrupted, but there was no need. It was a completely beautiful morning with a bonus dog. Perfect.

Far from shyness, introversion, as I experience it, is being at my best, most productive, happiest when I have a good amount of solitude. It's a treasure of a person who can feel to me like they belong in that sacred space with me and even add to it. Even people I like very much can be taxing to me. Make it three or four people, and I'm exhausted and spent for days while I spend time alone to regain my equilibrium.

Later this afternoon, I read a bit from a very smart, gallant and sexy man who spoke of freeing a woman from the shackles of introversion, and I had to smile. Time will take care of that idea, or who knows? He may be absolutely right, but in case anyone might benefit from my fallible thoughts, here they are.

Don't miss the infinite realms of introversion in an attempt to, "Free" her from it. Enter. It. If not, sure, she may let it go and meet you where you are, and you will never know her. Hear this: Someone will.

Introversion is the secret garden where ideas, lust, love and all things juicy grow,  There, she creates, in the depths of heart, mind and in her own body. There, if you're lucky or brave, you'll find the dreams just outside your consciousness - hers for sure, but yours as well. You may find something of yourself. Let her wake you -take you there.

She's not waiting to be freed from this. In selflessness, she may abandon it to please you for a while, and that's tragic, because she's not being herself. Therefore encourage her to be selfish.

There is wisdom in the woman of introverted artistry who is true to her being. She's building castles, heavens, and wonders and worlds. If you are invited, appreciate the work she's done, and she just may free you from the shackles of extroversion, and the ceaseless chit chat on the shallow end of the lonely networking pool, where you know as well as she does that your own hope is dying a little every day. She feels it viscerally, and she is the key. The Sea does not envy a cubicle. Enter on white horses, if you like, but never fool yourself on who's freeing whom.

Ah, Spring: Let the Bodies Hit the Floor!

May I share? Here it goes(I can't stop myself!)
Spring means one thing to me: Outdoor bugs will come to life, and they want to bond with me. It is March 20, and where I live that means a ground thaw. So it begins...

I woke just now from a nap, grabbed my oversized Tshirt and put it on. Damned tag itched, but you just deal with it, acrobatically scratch it out of place, until it's pleasantly un-tucked from shirt, and go about your business, or mine, or something. I began brushing my teeth when I saw, over half the size of my ring finger, yes! A large black, shiny water bug out of the corner of my eye on my left shoulder. I took the brush out of my mouth, and smacked the Pterodactyl off, but couldn't find the damned thing!
I dropped the toothbrush, and I might say the vibrating brush beating the sink, added a certain, "Je ne sais qua?" to the situation. It was loud! I got the shirt off by getting my right arm out carefully, just incase the dragon bug from Hell was still on me somewhere, then slipping my head out, finally the left arm, and dancing about like a three year old future princess on Meth, attempting to get away from the BEAST, and I didn't even know where it was!
Having, "Jitter-bugged" my way out of the bathroom, I peeked back in and saw Golliath, holding on under the lip of my vanity table, and I hopped passed it to grab a pretty pink (Seriously?) fly-swatter/world-saver!
Nabbing my (bad-ass for it's color) weaponry, I landed a nervous if exacting blow to the six-legged DEATH LOBSTER, and crushed the nasty guts out of it.....on my white vanity table.
.
Victory is a bittersweet mistress, indeed.

Celebrating One Year of Blogging!

Today is the day! It's been one whole year!
I Thank You All for the support, the tears and laughs through this past year. I look at the thoughtful comments and statistics page, and see people from all over the world are reading. I had no idea that would happen, and I often wonder what I have to offer you. I'm a painter from a little town in Kentucky, U.S. I have Autism, I'm 14 years clean and sober, and I'm a cancer survivor. There have been more failures than successes in this life, and I would not change a single thing...... Don't you see? My life wasn't supposed to be this good. smiles. Thank you!
I hope that you've found reason to smile, seen the value in simply being you, and have had opportunity to be still now and then. I hope you've had cause to see beauty in life, moments of gratitude and a few laughs. I hope you've seen the acceptance and love we all look for in your own eyes, and I hope you've had the chance to love others just because it feels good to be the love that you are.
I don't know where we're going in the comming year, but as long as people like you are beside me, I'm ready. smiles. So, here's to more paintings, more decadance, more insights into a world of my often misunderstanding, more passion, more gratitude, and another precious day at a time to simply be.
Toward friendships, old and new, I can only give you what I have. Here are some photo steps of my latest portrait. A video featuring these photos, and much more can be seen at my youtube channel here:
